Located in the historic harbor town of Greenport, NY, suspended directly over the water, overlooking the Peconic Bay, Barba Bianca (which translates to “White Beard”), is Chef DeCarlo’s ode to the old fishermen of yesteryear. The building was part of a former coal shack that was part of the historic S.T. Preston & Son Ship’s Chandlery. The 60-seat dining room offers remarkable views of Greenport Harbor, paneled in white beadboard and lined with vintage photographs of white-bearded fishermen. Separated by a narrow gang-plank, the bar area features an additional 20 seats, with a striking Quartzite- topped black and gold bar, brass stools, black shiplap and vintage nautical oil paintings bathed in atmospheric light. The jewel of the space is the 40-seat, umbrella-lined outdoor deck with sunset views of Shelter Island, where guests coming by boat are welcome to dock.
